Disney Sax Quartet

Here’s a video clip that Mr. Stroud (NMS Band Director) took of a saxophone quartet we saw in Disney World. From left to right, they’re playing a bass saxophone, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, and soprano saxophone. They were really fun to watch!

In the summer of 2000, I joined the Santa Clara Vanguard (SCV) which is a drum and bugle corps from Santa Clara California. They are considered one of the best drumcorps in the activity, and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of their organization. It was probably the best experience of my life, and is a big reason why I am teaching music.

This video is from when we were in Maryland right before Drumcorps International Finals which is the last and most important show of our season. I’m playing the fourth biggest bass drum (26 inches in diameter), and as you can see, all of the bass drummers decided to completely shave their heads. I was probably the tannest and skinniest I will ever be in my life.

I miss the activity and experience a lot. Sometimes, especially during the summer, I dream that I am still marching, wearing my uniform with pride.

I just added this blog to our webpage tonight. I hope this format will be a better idea for our pictures, videos and other things to show off what we do in the MCMS Band.

MCMS All-District Band Students

These are MCMS Band students who made it into the All-District Bands last year! We were extremely proud of their accomplishments. We’re hoping that our 7th and 8th grade students this year will continue in the footsteps of these awesome students. Dan (top right) is an 8th grader this year, and has a very good chance of making it into the All-District Band again.
